Will Smith smacks Chris Rock for alopecia joke

If you read “Will,” the biography from Will Smith, then you already know that the Oscar-winning actor will snuff someone in the face. This is neither news to you nor should you be surprised.

If you’re a frequent watcher of “Red Table Talk,” then you know his wife Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia and has been wearing head wraps repeatedly on the social media talk show — before she shaved her head altogether.
If you’re a frequent watcher of “Everybody Hates Chris,” then you know Chris Rock can take a punch or slap. The man was bullied by a kid who hit him with batteries.

For all three things to happen at once is believable. But I still thought Will Smith smacking Chris Rock was a staged joke — until I looked at the Oscar winner behind Will Smith: Lupita Nyong’o. Will Smith did what DJ Envy decided not to do, and I immediately went to Desus & Mero’s account to get their takes.
If this was a joke that went awry at the Oscars 2022, then Lupita Nyong’o wasn’t in on the joke, and neither were Tyler Perry nor Denzel Washington, who beelined to the front to console a crying Will Smith afterward.

To no one’s surprise, a casual look at social media is drowning in a bunch of people egging on Chris Rock calling his attorney and filing assault charges — all while being loyal defenders of the Second Amendment. Funny how that works. The same people who are willing to kill over the ability to kill are self-righteous when it comes to two men having a physical altercation with no blood shed nor anyone even being seriously hurt. Chris Rock didn’t even need a band-aid.
