I may have to thank Elon Musk for proving ...
I don't care about social media as much as I thought I would
Every week, I’m excited to see a new episode of “Rap Life Review.” Still, the one thing I smugly smile about is not knowing what they’re talking about when it comes to Twitter beefs. The latest one is about Meek Mill’s rant regarding the Diddy accusations. I left Twitter and all the Twitter drama it entailed (mainly about Elon Musk).
I don’t even remember how I found out that people were already upset about director Prentice Penny “Black Twitter: A People’s History.” I just remember thinking, “How are you mad already and it doesn’t even release on Hulu until May 9? At least watch it before you loathe it.”

Mind you, I still have a good laugh at my daily Google Alerts for “funny story black twitter.” Even when the Google Alerts aren’t specific to Black Twitter, I get feel-good gems like this one from Buzzfeed or this clever cat. But other than the laughs, I don’t miss social media nearly as much as I thought I would. Sometimes that is because I’d wake up in the morning to boiling-mad status updates like the Mississippi ex-police officer who made a man lick urine off the jail floor. Or, I’d ruin my whole day thinking of officers who kicked a man repeatedly in the head. I both wanted to know what was going on in social media news and would ruin my whole day after logging in for a few minutes.

But there are moments when I wonder if I was better off with accounts on all the major social media channels. After all, I’m still reading daily news stories. And without certain social media accounts, I’m losing the cheer-me-up factor after my blood pressure is sky high from breaking news stories.
